What people are saying

What our clients say

The thing that has stood out to me about Trailblazer from day one is their commitment to people – all ages, sizes, backgrounds, levels of ability are welcomed and supported. The gym completely debunks the myth that Crossfit is only for the elite athlete on tv. It’s not and the coaches take pride in getting to know all the members personally and making sure everyone benefits from the day’s workout. Crossfit is for everyone and everyone can benefit from giving it a try. I’m in my forties have gotten fitter, stronger and healthier in body and mind during my four years with Trailblazer.

I joined CrossFit Trailblazer in 2018. I’d had a difficult pregnancy that had left in with a permanent injury, limited mobility, and chronic pain. With ACC not covering pregnancy, we were left to fund my rehabilitation on our own. I tried to access other gym and pt’s in an attempt to support my recovery and to help try to bring some element of physical exercise back into my life in a safe way. I tried multiple gyms and spoke with multiple personal trainers, and the response, generally was to decline to work with me, in fear of making my condition and pain worse.

I met Teresa through my professional network. She asked me why I walked with a limp and I explained a little of my situation. She called Kyp, who asked for some information on my condition. He called back and said,“ I like a challenge” – Teresa took me to my first class at Trailblazer thee following day.

Those participating were all and differing levels of strength, mobility and fitness, and I could see how important it was to coaches that everyone moved safely and had fun. No mirrors, no ego, and not at all what I imagined CrossFit to be.

Joining CrossFit Trailblazer changed my life. I can push a trolley around a supermarket. I can get down on the floor and get myself up safely without pain. I can carry my son in my arms with out pain. Overtime, with the specialised support of the team at CrossFit Trailblazer, I’ve been able to strengthen the muscles around my hips and pelvis by completing modified CrossFit workouts, which has reduced my pain significantly, and increased my quality of life exponentially.

I competed in my first CrossFit competition last year and the wonderful head coaches flew up to support myself and others competing. I didn’t ever think I’d ever be able to walk normally again, or run again, let alone compete.

CrossFit Trailblazer values whānau, friendship, inclusion, integrity and personal growth in a way that I’ve never experience before. Forever grateful!I have been a member of Crossfit Trailblazer for 3 years now. Over the years I have had my share of ups and downs in my personal life, one thing that has stayed consistent was the support and friendship I received from Trailblazer. When asked “why do you do Crossfit?” my reply is always “I feel like I’m having a personal training session every time I go to the gym, where the coach cares about what I am doing. The community is amazing, I have never felt a part of a group like I do at Trailblazer, part of the team.”

Being an older female, I was worried about taking the first step 3 years ago, I was silly to feel like that. I have learnt that I am on my own fitness journey, I am not competing against others, I am competing against myself, being able to celebrate my own successes as well as the successes of my friends around me. There is a level for everyone in our gym!

Our community has shown exactly what it is made of during the Covid 19 lockdown. Our coaches have worked very hard to keep our fitness and wellbeing up with online zoom workouts as well as social events, online of course. It has been very cool coming together with others online and getting the fitness done. All the online interactions have done my mental health a world of good.

I love Crossfit Trailblazer and everything it offers to me and our members, my life is so enriched being around such amazing, inspiring and supportive people.
